Asian Beat Bazaar

Asian Beat Bazaar, an Asian Underground compilation by Virgin UK, consists of tracks mainly by British Asian acts.  Released on the 19th of July 2004 for distribution in the UK this compilation consists of acts like Jay Sean, Rishi Rich Project, B21, Trickbaby, Bally Sagoo and many more.

r-H is the only Singaporean act on this compialtion.

The song Tim Sum Vindaloo, Break Beat with Indian chanting and Chinese strings, was chosen for this compilation thanks to Steve Ager of Trickbaby, who was in charge of compiling Asian Beat Bazaar.

"Trickbaby was the artiste of the month on MTV Asia, sometime in 2003.  I sent them an email and Steve, the band's producer, replied!.  We were, and have been, in touch for a while.  Way before the drawing board received the Asian Beat Bazaar project.  Steve thought Tim Sum Vindaloo was excellent for the compilation, when he was approached to compile," r-H explaining his song getting onto the compilation.

Steve wasn't the only one who shared this thought.  DJ Adil Ray, a prominent figure in the UK Asian Undergound scene and host on BBC Asian Network's show, The Adil Ray show said, "Think Bruce Lee mashed up with Amitabh Bachchan. One of the most innovative new tracks of 2004. Asian Underground's birthplace is the UK.  AU refers to Bollywood classics mixed with current Western genres.  Think Asha Boshle and Prodigy on the same stage.  This has evolved into Indian folk music fused with current Westen genres.

The Asian Underground scene has been huge.  Many acts around the world have adopted this style of music.  The term "Asian Underground" is rarely used these days and has been replaced with "Asian", "World Music", "Asian Beats", etc.
